Certain elements with the assistance of some university students are trying to create unrest among the university students, Inter University Students' Federation President Sanjeewa Bandara told Daily Mirror online.
He added that two university students who were volunteering for the World Cup 2011 were attacked brutally and stabbed on Friday and that the President of the Ruhuna IUSF who was visiting them at the Matara Hospital was also attacked by another masked group.
He further said that while the President of the Ruhuna IUSF was being treated for his injures at the hospital he was arrested by the police and was only released after legal intervention.
We have made several police complaints, even identifying certain persons but police are still to take action regarding these matters, Bandara said.
