The Officer-in-Charge of the Athurugiriya Police Station and four other police officers have been interdicted pending an inquiry, police sources said.
The five were interdicted after a large haul of Heroin amounting to Rs 500,000 recovered from various raids disappeared from the store at the station in March this year.
Police sources also said the five were interdicted due to lapse of duty and negligence and an inquiry was underway to ascertain the culprits.
The Police spokesman SP Buddhika Siriwardena was unavailable for comment as per the norm, and the spokesman’s office when contacted, said they were not aware of the details.
