Eminent lawyer Dinal Philips has resigned from the Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) disciplinary committee with immediate effect, in response to an email sent by SLC asking the committee to probe the statements allegedly made by Mahela Jayawardene at a press conference at the Colombo Airport upon his arrival from Bangladesh after the ICC World T20 triumph.

President Counsel Philips told ‘Daily Mirror’ that he did not wish to offer reasons for his decision, but confirmed that he had responded to the SLC e-mail saying he would no longer be a part of the committee.

SLC Chief Executive Ashley de Silva confirmed that they have received the email sent by Philips.

Other members of the disciplinary committee are: Palitha Kumarasinghe PC, Camillus R. Abeygoonewardena, Lucien Mirinnage and Kamal Pushpakumara.
