The Colombo General Hospital might experience a possible disruption of heart surgeries due to a shortage of surgical consumables, General Hospital Director General Dr. Hector Weerasinghe said.
“At the moment we are continuing the heart surgery processes without any disruption but if the surgical consumables are not supplied on time, we might have to halt the process for a few days,” Dr. Weerasinghe said.
Speaking further he stated that they have already taken steps to alert the Medical Supplies Division (MSD) concerning the shortage of stock and added that the MSD has advised the State Pharmaceuticals Corporation (SPC) to airfreight the necessary surgical consumables within the following weeks.
