Probe into students who cheated at 2010 O/L

Examinations Department announced today that investigations have been initiated on some 6500 students who are suspected to have swindled at the 2010 G.C.E. O/L examination.
Examinations Commissioner Anura Edirisinghe told Daily Mirror Online that the inquiries which are being carried out by the Investigations Branch of the department initiated today. “We are planning to complete the probing within two weeks and release the results of students who are cleared from the charges as soon as possible,” Mr. Edirisinghe said.
Speaking further he stated that results of students whose charges are proven would be cancelled while a debarkation would be imposed on such individuals from sitting for examinations for a period of two - five years. Meanwhile the Examinations Department also took steps to withhold 2010 G.C.E. O/L results of more than 10,000 candidates who had sat for the examination by producing postal identity cards.
