Atomic Energy Authority Chairman (AEA) Prof. Wimaladharma Abeywickrama today said facilities have been arranged at the AEA for ‘Exposure Monitoring’ or for body checking on request by air passengers coming from Japan.
Prof. Abeywickrama added a hotline (011 2547332) was in place at the AEA round the clock for passengers to obtain more information and make requests for body checks.
“No one should panic as it will take another three to four weeks passing winds, clouds or air from the contaminated region to cross over Sri Lanka. But It is advisable for any Sri Lankan or even a tourist to get an Exposure Monitoring if he or she is coming from North-East Japan ,” he emphasized.
Prof. Abeywickrama stressed that there was no facilities at the BIA for Exposure Monitoring and passengers will not be subjected to compulsory monitoring.
