Remanded Premalal tops Ratnapura UPFA list

Former Deputy Minister Premalal Jayasekara, who is still in remand custody, had topped the UPFA list in Ratnapura with 154,980 preferential votes, way ahead of W. D. J. Seneviratne who made it to the second place of the list with 90,472 votes.
Mr. Jayasekara was arrested in connection with a shooting incident in Kahawatte during the January 8 Presidential Election.
Shots were fired at three people while they were setting up a stage for National Democratic Front presidential candidate, Maithripala Sirisena.
Former MPs Pavithra Wanniarachchi and Vasudeva Nanayakkara came in the third and fourth places of the UPFA list, while Thalatha Athukorala topped the UNP list with 145,828 preferential votes.
Dunesh Gankanda received 92,804 votes and came second in the UNP list.
