The Sri Lankan High Commission in Malaysia has compiled a report on the incident where a Sri Lankan was murdered and two others escaped on Sunday after being abducted by a gang in Malaysia.

Speaking to Daily Mirror online the Sri Lankan High Commissioner in Malaysia Dr. D.D. Ranasinghe said that it had come to light today that the incident was part of an organized crime involving the victims.

He said that the the suspects had established contacts with one of the victims and it was on this basis that they met at the airport and were taken to a house where they were subsequently held.

Malaysian police had said that one Sri Lankan died while trying to flee from the house on Sunday while a friend escaped and another was rescued.

The Malaysian media had reported that the three had arrived on a holiday and to sell gemstones worth RM40,000 ($17,212) when they were abducted last week at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport.

High Commissioner Ranasinghe said that the relatives of the victims were now in Malaysia and had visited the two men who had escaped and were now in hospital.

According to the High Commissioner three Malaysians have been arrested over the incident and have been charged under immigration law.

The Sri Lankan High Commission has meanwhile compiled a report over the incident to be sent to the External Affairs Ministry in Colombo, High Commissioner Ranasinghe said. (Daily Mirror online)
