Rs. 200 m worth of ‘Wallapatta’ herbs confiscated

More than 13,000 kilos of ‘Wallapatta’ herbs (Gyrinops walla) worth Rs.200 million used in the manufacture of perfume was recovered from a house in Kolonnawa.

Police said this stock was being prepared for smuggling to a foreign destination, at the time it was detected by the Special Task Force Intelligence Unit.

Six suspects including two Indians were also arrested while the stock of Wallapatta herbs, which is a main ingredient in perfume, was taken into custody.
