Rubber factory ablaze

A rubber factory in Charley Mount estate in Udukawa, Weligama is ablaze with several employees trapped inside, causing much anxiety among their relatives and the residents of the area.

Police and the Galle Fire Brigade who rushed to the scene are currently carrying on a rescue operation with the help of the people. Reports say that the fire has spread to an area of about four acres in the estate, causing damage to property and the rubber plantations close by. (Krishan Jeewaka)
