Last survivor in ice hockey tragedy dies

Alexander Galimov, a forward on Russia’s Lokomotiv Yaroslavl hockey team, died today in the hospital after a September 7 plane crash that killed his coach and fellow players, an official at the Vishnevsky Surgery Clinic in Moscow said today by phone, confirming a report by the Interfax news service.
Galimov and a crew member were the only two of 45 people on board who immediately survived the crash. The chartered Yakovlev-42 plane was carrying eight crew and 37 members of the Lokomotiv team when it crashed during takeoff.
