Batsman Kumar Sangakkara and spinner Rangana Herath moved up the ICC test player rankings, following their contributions in the recent series against Australia.
Sangakkara’s series aggregate of 223 runs, including two half-centuries, has enabled him to join the England pair of Alastair Cook and Ian Bell in second position.
Sri Lanka’s left-arm spinner Rangana Herath’s excellent bowling displays, which saw him claim 16 wickets in the series, has also helped him achieve a career-best ranking to date. He has jumped six places to 10th position.
Meanwhile Australia, who started the series at the number-five position, has moved into fourth position in the team rankings and now leads Sri Lanka by one ratings point, while trailing third-ranked India by 13 ratings points.
