Minister Samarasingha who acts as the international trouble shooter of the government told the Daily Mirror on the eve of his departure for Geneva yesterday that Sri Lanka has engaged with a several friendly countries in many parts of the world on a diplomatic level explaining her position.
He said Sri Lanka has a strategic plan to face the possible brickbats at the UNHRC debate but declined to elaborate.
It was speculated that the EU with the backing of the US are expected to pass a resolution at the UNHRC meeting urging Sri Lanka to come up with a credible mechanism to implement LLRC recommendations without delay.
Other members of the delegation are Ministers Nimal Siripala De Silva, Anura Priyadharshana Yapa, Parliamentarian Sajin Vas Gunawardana and former AG Mohan Peiris.
