Sri Lanka reached 34 for 2 at tea on the third day of the first test against Australia, being played at the Galle International Stadium.
Chasing a target of 378 to win, Sri Lanka got off to a bad start as Tharanga Paranavitana was out leg before, in the first ball of the innings. Kumar Sangakkara was lucky to escape a similar appeal the following delivery, although replays showed that it pitched outside leg stump.
Captain T. M. Dilshan was the second man out as he was bowled by Ryan Harris for 12, as Sri Lanka fell to 15 for 2.
Former captains Mahela Jayawardena and Kumar Sangakkara steadied the innings with patient knocks of 11 each.
