Sri Lanka reached 76 for the loss of 5 wickets at lunch on the first day of the second test against Austraila being played at the Pallekele International Stadium.

Having won the toss and electing to bat, Sri Lanka were reduced to 35 for 3 within the first hour, courtesy of poor stroke-play, and some good fielding from the visitors.

Kumar Sangakkara and Thilan Samaraweera then put on a partnership before the latter was caught behind off the bowling of Ryan Harris for 17 -- Sri Lanka on 57 at that point.

Prassanna Jayawardena was the next man out for 18, after he took to Nathan Lyon's first over, scoring 12 runs off the over, before being caught in the deep playing an unnecessary lofted shot on the final delivery.

Sangakkara was on 29 with Angelo Mathews yet to face a delivery.
