Three counterfeiters arrested

Three suspects who printed counterfeit thousand rupee notes and carried out several transactions with shops using fake notes were arrested by the Ampara police. Computer equipment used to print some of these notes was also recovered.

The suspects had used five thousand rupees worth of notes to buy goods from unsuspecting shop owners at a time.  The suspects were later presented in court and remanded till the 26th of January. The police are conducting further investigations. (GS)
