Three persons of one family were killed and another two were injured when their three-wheeler collided head on with a lorry at the Banagala bend in Dompe this evening, the Police said.

They said the three-wheeler, travelling from Hanwella to Dompe, had collided with the lorry that was travelling in the opposite direction.

Police said the three family members, the mother, daughter and daughter in law had died on admission to the Dompe Hospital.

The father and son who were in a critical condition, had been transferred to the Colombo National Hospital.

The driver of the lorry had been taken into custody and he was to be produced before the Dompe Magistrate tomorrow (30).
