Three teams investigating hotel owner’s murder

Three teams are conducting investigations into the killing of the owner of Biyagama Village Hotel, Bernard Jayaratne who was hacked to death yesterday morning by an unidentified person on a motorbike.

He was hacked to death on Monday morning in one of his estates in Pahala Dompe in Dompe. No suspects have been identified and the police are hoping that a breakthrough in the killing can be expected after his funeral.

According to eyewitnesses the killing had been carried out by an unidentified person who was hiding inside the estate at around 6.30am.

The body was sent to the Gampaha Hospital for the post mortem examination after the magisterial inquiry which was conducted on the same day by acting Pugoda Magistrate Chandrani Payagala Bandara.

The body was brought home today and the funeral is to be held on Thursday at the Biyagama South Public Cemetery. (Supun Dias)
