Donors had pledged 42 percent of the UN flash appeal made for the reconstruction of the areas affected by the floods in January and February, officials said today.

After the second wave of floods, the UN revised its flash appeal to US $ 44 million.

UN Acting Country Director Adnan Khan told Daily Mirror that the UN headquarters in New York had approved the revised appeal.  At this stage, Mr. Khan said, the donor response was satisfactory.

All these funds, he said, would be channeled through various NGOs and UN organizations to carry out rehabilitation and reconstruction work in the affected areas.

Besides, Mr. Khan said that there were many bilateral donations to the government, but the UN had no record of them.
