The JVP today stressed the need for defeating the efforts of the UN to interfere with internal affairs of Sri Lanka. The JVP stated that UN had tried to fulfill political aspirations rather than resolving human rights issues of various nations.

The party in an official statement charged that the UN had tried to fulfill some political aspirations more than resolving human rights issues of various nations.   “UN had made this point clear though its action in the recent times,” the JVP said.

At the same time the JVP also charged that the Sri Lankan Government had paved the way for the UN Secretary General to interfere in the internal affairs of the country.

The JVP charged that the Government had failed to ensure democracy and to safeguard human rights since the end of the conflict two and a half years ago. It also said the government had failed in the aspect of diplomacy.

The party further charged that the government also followed a course of suppressing its opponents in an unofficial level while it had failed to establish a full civil administration in the North.

“The government is also deceiving the people through a false patriotism while getting into various deals with the UN chief and the other officials secretly, the party further pointed out. (Daily Mirror online)
