The main opposition UNP today denounced the arrest and interrogation of two journalists of the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) including its Asia Pacific Director Jacqui Park.
“This move shows that the Rajapaksa regime has no respect for the 16 initial agreements of the Commonwealth protocol signed by 54 countries,” UNP General Secretary Tissa Attanayake said.
He said the regime had violated the agreements of stabilizing media freedom, democracy, human rights and respect to views of others, by arresting the two journalists.
