UNP would decide whether to go for a vote to elect the members for the top posts including the leadership, party sources said.

UNP would hold a decisive working committee meeting today to decide on the issue. Today’s working committee would be the first after the party’s defeat in the last week’s local government election.

Sources close to party leader Ranil Wickremesinghe told Daily Mirror that the working committee would decide to go for a vote to elect the new leaders. The suggestion is expected to come from the Wickremesinghe camp according to sources.

Meanwhile, it is believed one group was trying to get Hambantota MP Sajith Premadasa to contest for the leadership in the event a decision was made to go for a vote. (Yohan Perera)
