Watch out for rising water levels in Kelani River

The Disaster Management Centre warned people living in low lying areas of the Kelani River to be vigilant of the water in the river rising to flood level.
Meanwhile, the Meteorology Department said showers or thundershowers could be expected over most parts of the island during the afternoon and night with heavyrainsexceeding more than 100mm.
It said the rains would be accompanied bystrong winds increasing up to 60kmph and people were advisedto take adequate precautions to minimise damage caused by lightning.
