Wild elephant on rampage, two injured

A father and his ten- year-old daughter were seriously injured when a wild elephant went on rampage in the Medagama town this morning.
The police was informed around 6.30 am by the public about the wild elephant from the Nilgala Forest Reserve and it was chased by the police in the Medagama- Maallegama road. The elephant first attacked a trishaw and then attacked the motorbike on which the injured were riding.
They were admitted to the Moneragala Hospital and the wild elephant was chased to the Nilgala Forest Reserve by the police with the assistance from wildlife officials and villagers in the area.
