While claiming that there are some inaccuracies in a joint letter sent by five media rights groups to the UN Chief into the disappearance of journalist Prageeth Ekneligoda, the UN said that they are looking into the issue.

UN spokesman Martin Nesirky in response to a question raised about the letter said “the letter from the five organizations including the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) had been received. The Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights and UNESCO had been looking into the matter of the missing journalist and will follow up.”

He also said “there are a couple of inaccuracies in that joint letter which will be addressed to them.”
