Renewed tourism protocols as SL gears to open doors Thursday
The local tourism sector has been issued with a renewed set of ‘safety protocols’, one that is relaxed and allows international travelers experience the island nation with fewer restrictions.
In a bid to revive the hard-hit industry, the Sri Lanka Tourism yesterday published the new set of protocols which the authority assured has been approved by the Ministry of Health, and also streamlined in consultation with the sector stakeholders to “ensure a smooth transition to begin operations in the midst of this new normal”.
Features of the fresh set of protocols include; no minimum stay, quarantine free experience, and the bio-bubble concept for site visitations.
The Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA) stressed that it will take every possible step to provide international visitors “an amazing time” while ensuring their safety, providing a safe and secure operational environment for the service providers of the tourism industry and ensuring that local communities are protected and secured.
