The anticipation of the Oscars of the Sri Lankan Brand Marketing Fraternity begins to build up once again as SLIM Brand Excellence announces the beginning of the SLIM Brand Excellence Awards campaign for the 15th consecutive year.
Based on the tag line, “Excellence is an Obsession”, the campaign kicked off with a media and participants briefing which took place at the JAIC Hilton on the 15th of June and ends in November with a grand award ceremony at the BMICH. Special workshops will be held during the 3rd and 4th weeks of June, for the education of the participants while the final closing date for entries will be the 20th of July.
As the national body of marketing,the Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing(SLIM) serves to produce initiatives in order to encourage strategic and result-oriented thinking in the fields of brand development, sales, advertising and research through events such as, the SLIM Brand Excellence Awards, NASCO, the Effies and the People’s Awards.
Being the only awards campaign in the country, which recognizes those brands and brand custodians that are excelling in the arena of marketing,SLIM Brand Excellence has continued to grow in scale and quality.Another objective of SLIM Brand Excellence is to recognize the contributions of the Brand Managers towards the success of their brands, so that theawards may be used as a personal form of achievement as well.
Participants are able to compete in thirteen different categories: Product Brand of the Year, Service Brand of the Year, Innovative Brand of the Year, Turn-a-Round Brand of the Year, Local Brand of the Year, Best New Entrant of the Year, International Brand of the Year, SME Brand of the Year, CSR Brand of the Year, Export Brand of the Year, B2B Brand of the Year, Regional Brand Recognition Award and Online Brand of the Year, which was introduced the previous year. This year’s panel of esteemed judges will consist of a number of experienced and well-respected professionals in the marketing industry, which will be headed by Mr. Nasser Majeed, the CEO of Soft logic Retail (Pvt) Ltd.
“For the past fifteen years SLIM Brand Excellence has been a platform for all brands, local and international, to gain recognition and status in Sri Lanka. The objective of the campaign is to encourage development in the marketing industry, thereby helping to strengthen the backbone of the country’s economic future”,stated Mr. Upul Adikari, President of the Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing. “We expect this year’s awards to be even more successful than those before and we wish all participants the best of luck”.
