Ceylinco General Insurance in collaboration with Chubb Insurance of USA have paid an advance of US $ 1 million to Shangri-La Hotel Colombo to commence repairs on April 25, just four days after the devastating bomb on Easter Sunday.
A media statement from Ceylinco General Insurance said their officials visited Shangri-La within a few hours of the incident on Sunday, April 21, and got in touch with the hotel management immediately.
“On Monday, April 22, an initial inspection was carried out and Ceylinco General Insurance in collaboration with Chubb Insurance, USA paid the advance to Shangri-La Hotel to help them expedite the repairs,” the statement said.
Further assessments of the extent of damage will be carried out by a loss adjuster appointed by the reinsurer in consultation with Ceylinco General Insurance.
The advance of US $ 1 million was arranged even before finalizing the initial investigation report, Ceylinco General Insurance said.
