Dialog Axiata PLC, the first telecommunications service provider in the South Asian region to demonstrate 5G capabilities in 2018, announced the successful completion of the first-ever trial of the Voice over New Radio (VoNR) service on a Standalone 5G trial network in Sri Lanka.
This groundbreaking milestone reinforces Dialog’s commitment to technological innovation and signifies a significant stride towards unlocking the limitless potential of 5G technology in Sri Lanka. Voice Over 5G is the 5G technology successor of VoLTE on 4G networks, which will soon allow Dialog customers to experience unparalleled voice quality, lightning-fast connection speeds with ultra-low latency and reduced call setup times that enable real-time communication instantaneously. Moreover, Voice Over 5G seamlessly integrates with 5G networks, providing a unified telecommunications experience that aligns perfectly with the capabilities of next-generation networks.
This is the first-ever implementation of Voice Over 5G in Sri Lanka demonstrating the seamless and immersive Voice Over 5G experience, with Huawei facilitating the telecom infrastructure for the project.
