Commercial Bank opens trading at CSE

Commercial Bank of Ceylon PLC opened trading on the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) yesterday. This event was yet another in a series of market opening ceremonies, featuring the companies from the S&P SL20 index. 
Managing Director and CEO Jegan Durairatnam, Chief Operating Officer S Renganathan, Chief Financial Officer Nandika Buddhipala, Deputy General Manager - Corporate Banking Sanath Manatunge and Deputy General Manager Human Resources Management Isuru Tillakawardana from Commercial Bank and Chairman Vajira Kulatilaka, CEO Mr. Rajeeva Bandranaike and the Senior Management from the CSE took part in the market opening ceremony. 
“Having been listed on the Exchange since 1970, Commercial Bank of Ceylon PLC has had a positive and rewarding relationship with the stock exchange and its management. We have grown with the Exchange and are currently positioned with the 3rd largest market capitalisation, hovering around a billion dollars. The stock market is much more than a place to buy and sell shares; we think it is businesses’ access to capital and more importantly provides companies an opportunity to enhance their visibility and public image on a world stage,” Commercial Bank Managing Director and CEO Jegan Durairatnam said. 
“We are trying to manage the risk, by bringing in the Central Counterparty System (CCP), financial risk and systemic risks. We are also trying to bring in new products, such as risk management products, hedging instruments and also other instruments that will help to create more liquidity for our shares and products,” Chairman of CSE Vajira Kulatilaka said.
