The primary objective of this MoU is to improve collaborations between the CA Sri Lanka and University of Ruhuna to allow the graduates of the university to obtain the CA qualification. The MoU would also allow reciprocal research facilities as well as resource sharing while enabling graduates of the University of Ruhuna to acquire a premier professional qualification.

On behalf of the University of Ruhuna, Prof. Amarasena expressed that he is looking forward to seeing the collaborative initiatives between the two institutes for the benefit of students and he commended the initiatives taken by the CA Sri Lanka and Management and Finance Faculty towards creating such enabling pathways.
Founded in 1959, CA Sri Lanka is the national professional accounting body, dedicated to promoting and advancing the accounting profession both within the country and internationally. The University of Ruhuna, meanwhile, is the only university in the southern region of Sri Lanka and was established by a special presidential decree on September 1, 1978 as Ruhuna University College. It was later upgraded to a fully-fledged public university on February 1, 1984, by a university order.
