Carson Cumberbatch PLC welcomed W.M. Ravindra S. Dias as the new Chairman of the Carson Cumberbatch PLC board, effective September 25, 2024.
Dias, a seasoned banker by profession, succeeds Tilak de Zoysa, who stepped down after 24 years of service on the board, which included 23 years as Chairman. During his leadership in the past two decades, the group achieved remarkable business growth and success.
Dias brings nearly four decades of experience from Commercial Bank of Ceylon PLC, where he retired as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer. He currently holds key leadership roles as Chairman of Ceylon Tea Marketing (Pvt.) Ltd and serves on the boards of Tokyo Cement Company (Lanka) PLC and the United States – Sri Lanka Fulbright Commission.
His distinguished career also includes serving as Chairman of Senkadagala Finance PLC and Seylan Bank PLC as well as Managing Director of Commercial Development PLC.
Additionally, he has been a Director of prominent financial institutions such as Lanka Clear (Pvt.) Ltd and Lanka Financial Services Bureau Ltd. He also contributed to the National Financial Policy through his role with the Academy of Financial Studies of the Finance and Planning Ministry and as a Council Member of the Employers’ Federation of Ceylon.
An accomplished academic, Dias holds a degree in Law, is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers (UK) and a Hubert H. Humphrey Fellow. He has been a Director at Carson Cumberbatch for over a decade.
