The 20th convocation of the College of Chemical Sciences, Institute of Chemistry Ceylon (IChemC), was held at the BMICH recently.
Eastern Province Governor Prof. Jayantha Lal Ratnasekara graced the occasion as the chief guest.
This event marked the graduation of 120 graduates, nine diplomates and five licentiate chemists of the Graduateship in Chemistry (GIC) programme, 36 graduates of B.Sc. (Hons.) in Chemical Science and 42 diplomates of the Diploma in Laboratory Technology (DLT).
Subject prizes were also awarded to graduates who excelled in different theory and practical aspects of chemistry during their academic years in the institute.
IChemC President Prof. Janitha Liyanage, the IchemC council members, emeritus and senior professors, senior lecturers, administrative staff, teaching-assistants, parents and well-wishers were among the attendees.
The event concluded with the valedictory speeches delivered by G.S.P. de Silva, T.D. Fernando and K. Midusha, who won the overall best performance prizes for GIC, B.Sc. (Hons.) in the Chemical Science and DLT programmes, respectively.
