Responding to an article published in Mirror Business on 29 November under the title ‘Cyberattacks on top firms, state entities expose Sri Lanka’s weak defenses - Secualyze’, Cargills has denied it had fallen victim to a phishing scheme.
While there had in fact been an ongoing phishing scheme targeting retail business of the company, Cargills noted that the very nature of phishing scheme was fundamentally incorrect and inaccurate to state that it had fallen victim to a scheme.
Further, Cargills noted it has undertaken a widespread publicity campaign to address this scheme.
