FGE becomes first stockbroker with ISO 27001:2022 for Information Security Standards

First Guardian Equities [Private] Limited (FGE) has become the first stockbroker in Sri Lanka to receive the ISO 27001:2022 certification for their Information Security Management Systems, which underscores FGE’s commitment to safeguarding its clients’ data and ensures a secure trading environment. 

The certification is awarded to organisations that demonstrate rigorous compliance with international best practices in data protection, risk management and information security. By achieving this milestone, FGE has set a new benchmark for the stockbroking services sector in Sri Lanka, ensuring that clients can trade with confidence knowing their sensitive information is protected under the most stringent and secure processes accepted globally. 

Prabath Amila Perera from Phoenix IT Lanka (Pvt) Ltd assisted the FGE team, led by Nisula Vimukthi. Ceycert (Pvt) Ltd, FGE’s certification partner provided support in securing the ISO 27001:2022 certification.

The awarding of the certification was recently completed with the CEO/MD of FGE, Rohan Goonewardene accepting the certification at the FGE office on the 32nd floor of the East Tower, World Trade Center. FGE is currently the sole stockbroking firm operating within the iconic financial hub in Colombo, home to the Colombo Stock Exchange and Securities and Exchange Commission, the Country’s Financial Markets Regulator.

FGE’s principal shareholder is Japan’s financial giant, the SBI Group with asset management in excess of JPY 10 Trillion (US$70 Billion) and investments in over 1,500 companies globally, and also operates the largest stockbroking firm on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
