Sri Lanka’s female entrepreneurs are set to receive a fresh boost with plans underway to establish a ‘SheTrades Hub’ in the island nation.
The hub which is managed by the International Trade Center (ITC) will provide critical support to Sri Lankan women entrepreneurs by offering training and resources to enhance their participation in international trade.
The initiative will deliver market insights, investment opportunities, and technical assistance to help female-led businesses improve their global competitiveness.
The government announced recently that a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) will be inked between the ITC and the Sri Lanka Export Development Board (SLEDB). Cabinet nod for the same was given last week.
The SheTrades initiative has had a notable impact on women’s economic engagement across 30 countries, with 12 regional hubs established worldwide. These hubs have facilitated access to markets and promoted a more inclusive business environment for women.
