Hero Motocorp awarded ‘Manufacturing Innovator of the Year’ by TIME

Leading Indian motorcycle manufacturer Hero MotoCorp has received the coveted ‘Manufacturing Innovator of the Year’ award at the inaugural TIME India Awards, instituted by the New York – headquartered TIME magazine, one of the world’s oldest and most prestigious news magazines.
Abans Auto is the sole agent for Hero motorcycles in Sri Lanka.  


Hero MotoCorp Chairman, MD and CEO Pawan Munjal received the award from Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi at a glittering function held in Mumbai on February 13, 2016, which coincided with the inauguration of ‘Make In India Week’.


Amongst the other dignitaries present at this mega event were the Prime Minister of Sweden Kjell Stefan Lofven, Prime Minister of Finland Juha Petri Sipila, Cisco’s John Chambers, Maharashtra Governor Shri Vidyasagar Rao, Maharashtra Chief Minister Shri Devendra Fadnavis, representatives of 17 state governments, foreign government delegations from as many as 68 countries and business teams from 72 countries. Hero MotoCorp was selected for this award from nine finalists, after a rigorous evaluation process involving qualitative and quantitative metrics, out of 3000 manufacturing companies. 

The Jury included some of the most illustrious global personalities such as General Electric Vice Chairman John Rice, Nissan Renault CEO Carlos Ghosn, Infosys Chairman N.R. Narayana Murthy, McKinsey & Co. Chairman Kevin Sneader, ICICI Bank Managing Director and CEO Chanda Kochhar, while TIME Inc. Chief Content Officer Norman Pearlstine was the Chairman of the Jury.
