Japanese Finance Minister Suzuki Shunichi would undertake an official visit to Sri Lanka this week, the Foreign Affairs Ministry said.
Shunichi will be in the country from January 11 to 12, 2024. During the visit, Shunichi is scheduled to have official discussions with President Ranil Wickremesinghe and Foreign Affairs Minister Ali Sabry.
During their stay in Sri Lanka, Shunichi and the Japanese delegation will visit Parliament, Jayawardene Centre, Sri Jayewardenepura Hospital, Colombo Dockyard and Lanka Nippon Biztec Institute in Maharagama.
The high-level visit from Japan comes just a week after Japan-Sri Lanka Economic Cooperation Policy Dialogue 2024. The meeting was held in Colombo on January 5, to exchange views on matters concerning the Japanese-funded project portfolio, explore future developments and prospective economic cooperation between the two nations going forward.

The Japanese delegation for policy dialogue was led by Japan’s Foreign Affairs Ministry International Cooperation Bureau Director-General Endo Kazuya. The meeting was co-chaired by Finance Ministry Secretary K.M. Mahinda Siriwardana.
