Diversified listed conglomerate Melstacorp, that has a strong foothold in the private healthcare sector, has added another extension to its list of operations by venturing into the pharmacy business.
In a move to offer end-to-end health services, the latest venture of the entity was launched under the brand ‘Melsta Pharmacy’.
The flagship pharmacy, located in Colombo 3, is a most modern and customer-centric facility that offers a number of unique services which include home delivery of medicines, free health checks, senior citizen discounts, online purchases, special patient counselling by qualified and experienced staff.
In a statement to the media, Melstacorp said with the newest venture, Melsta Health is able to offer a complete service of hospital care, diagnostic testing and supply of necessary medication to its customers as a
total solution.
Melsta Pharmacy further offers mother and baby care products, wellness, surgical and consumable items with a personal care range in store.
Melstacorp ventured into the healthcare sector in 2017 and grew to manage a number of ‘best-in-class’ facilities that are accessible and integrated.
In 2010 Melstacorp launched Melsta Laboratories and its reference lab is considered the largest stand-alone medical testing facility in the country.
Along with its state-of-the-art lab in Colombo and regional labs in Galle, Kurunegala, and Kandy, Melsta Labs manages two hospital-based laboratories. Its laboratories were the first to be audited by the Ministry of Health for PCR testing and offers PCR testing facilities for Covid-19. Melsta Health manages and operates Joseph Fraser Memorial Hospital, and Melsta Hospitals Ragama, where the latter is remodeled to conform to modern medical standards and is endorsed with leading international accreditations - ISO 9001, ISO 22000:2018, ISO45001 and ISO14001. Business magnate Harry Jayawardena controls 57 percent of Melstacorp in concert with other entities he owns.
