Nippon Paint unveils ‘Trend Beyond Colors’ 2016/17

Understanding the consistently changing life style patterns and taste, Nippon Paint recently  launched  its second ‘Trend Beyond Colors’ by unveiling nine key colour palettes at the Cinnamon Grand Hotel recently.


It would be featured across three palettes namely, ‘We Are One’, ‘New Eco’ and ‘ Wonder-Lust’ each represented by three key colours which are; Green Tuft, Founder Blue, Gray Knight, Volcanic Black, Tavern Buff, Lush, Fast Car, Being Peach and Blue Lullaby.


It was revealed last year at the Asia Pacific Chroma Zone Colour Forecasting Workshop in Japan, a collaboration between Nippon Paint and the Colour Marketing Group.


Nippon Paint Lanka (Pvt) Ltd, Assistant General Manager, Nemantha Abeysingha said that this is the first time colours were introduced to Sri Lanka and as a tradition they are looking forward to launch newest  colours every year designed by Asian professionals.

He said that they believe that Asia should form its own colour pallets  that is associated with the Asians, as  developed countries has their own colour pallets according to  regions.


“As a region we all should get together and design a palette  that is consistent across the whole of Asia” he said.


The company intends to keep pushing the boundaries and to inspire the customers to re-think paint and re-create possibilities on all surfaces.


Sri Lanka Institute of Architect,  Vice Chairman, D H Wijewardena said that colour has a symbolic and psychological value.


He noted that historically Sri Lankans have been very innovative and had a good knowledge on colours citing examples such as the Sigiriya paintings and temple paintings.


Speaking of what a colour could do to a building he said that it is an important tool when designing a building which would highlight it in different aspects such as warmth, tranquility etc.


“If you paint it in white, like the White House it adds dignity” he added.


A booklet also was presented at the event,  which gives a complete guide on how to combine colours from interior to exterior.


At present, NIPSEA Group, the  parent company of Nippon Paint manufactures and sells Nippon paint products in 15  Asian countries and they manufacture over 1 billion litres of paints and coats annually.
