South Asia Gateway Terminals (Pvt.) Ltd (SAGT), Sri Lanka’s first public-private partnership (PPP) container terminal, commissioned a new Reach Stacker (RS) recently, enhancing its total RS fleet.
The new RS boosts SAGT’s yard container handling capability with load capacity of 45 tonnes per lift. The timely investment of the RS allows for SAGT to better handle containers during times of high yard density, resulting from the post-pandemic global trade landscape.
Equipped with modern technology, the RS has an inbuilt fire suppression system for diesel engine and hydraulics compartments, a central greasing system and reduce steering. The new RS also provides flexibility of over height frame handling, enabling improved operational advantages.
A reverse warning function and a reversing camera provide greater visibility and audible notifications to the driver and safety during operations.
A safe load handling system controls and maintains speed within identified safe operating zone based on the load handled.
The start/stop function will automatically activate and deactivate the engine based on idle time and or the ineffective operation of the engine, gearbox or brakes. This function allows for optimal use of the machine, less breakdowns and repairs and decrease in fuel consumption. Efficient fuel consumption supports SAGT’s objective of minimising its carbon footprint and helps driving a sustainable business.
