The government has decided to extend visas of 15,456 Russian and Ukrainian tourists in Sri Lanka for a period of two months free-of-charge due to the on-going conflict
between Ukraine and Russia.
Tourism Minister Prasanna Ranatunga on Monday sought Cabinet approval for the visa extension of nationals from the two countries.
According to the Government Information Department, there are currently 11,463 Russian tourists and 3, 993 Ukrainian tourists in the island.
In February, Russia was the top source market for Sri Lanka with 28, 392 arrivals while Ukraine was fourth largest source market with 13, 039 arrivals.
