The Sri Lanka – Greater Mekong Business Council (SLGMBC) of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce organized a successful business promotion mission to Myanmar recently.
The delegates met with the Ambassador of Sri Lanka in Myanmar and attended the Yangon Investment Forum organized by the Yangon Regional Government.
The Council together with PricewaterhouseCoopers (PWC) Myanmar organized an information session for delegates, which was followed by individual meetings between delegates and potential business partners in Myanmar, based on the requirements of each delegate.
Delegates from member companies that participated in this business promotion mission were successful in establishing contact with potential business partners, while some of these Companies are about to conclude agreements with their counterparts.
The main objective of the Sri Lanka – Greater Mekong Business Council is the further expansion of trade, investment and tourism between Sri Lanka and the Greater Mekong: Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam. The Sri Lanka – Greater Mekong Business Council functions through a group of Sri Lankan businessmen. The Council also maintains a close relationship with the diplomatic missions of the Greater Mekong Sub region in Sri Lanka.
The Council will hold its 8th Annual General Meeting on July 18th at the Colombo Club, Taj Samudra.
The AGM will feature a presentation on “Opportunities available for Sri Lankan Companies in the Greater Mekong Subregion” by Ruvini Fernando, Director – PPP Advisory and Deals Strategy, PricewaterhouseCoopers Sri Lanka.
