Standard Chartered has appointed Harini Jayaweera as Chief Compliance Officer in Sri Lanka, effective October 21, 2024.
In this role, Harini will oversee the bank’s conduct, financial crime and compliance functions while continuing her responsibilities as Head of Financial Crime Compliance (FCC) and Country Money Laundering Compliance Officer (CMLCO).

Harini has over 16 years of extensive experience in regulatory compliance and financial crime risk management and has demonstrated exceptional leadership in advisory, FCC and regulatory governance throughout her career.
Having begun her journey with Standard Chartered Sri Lanka in 2007 as a corporate affairs intern, Harini rejoined in 2018 as Associate Director Compliance. Her professional experience includes valuable tenures at PricewaterhouseCoopers and Acuity Knowledge Partners, where she strengthened her expertise across banking and advisory services sectors.
She is a certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist and holds a Bachelor of Science in Management with Law from the University of London.
