Destination Sri Lanka will come under fresh spotlight this November with Tourism Ministry giving the nod for stakeholders to take part in the World Travel Market 2022.

Following discussions with the Ministry of Tourism and the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotions Bureau, the government has agreed to facilitate local industry stakeholders to participate in the WTM 2022 that will be held in London, UK.
For global tourism, the World Travel Market is a red-circled event where the travel and tourism sector across the world come on to a single platform.

“It is where we could meet our foreign tour operator partners and promote destination Sri Lanka. This will carry a strong message to the world and our tour operator partners that Sri Lanka is safe for travel and welcoming tourists, as opposed to the negative media reports in the past months,” said Sri Lanka Association of Inbound Tour Operators (SLAITO) and One Industry One Voice in a joint statement.

Industry stakeholders will also take part in the ‘Three-City Road Show’ in India which is scheduled to take place end of September.

Participation at the two events will help Sri Lanka return back on the map as a sought-after tourism destination.
The industry expressed confidence in the relaxation of travel advisories from source markets and promoting Sri Lanka in key roadshows helping the industry to move towards the path of revival going forward.
