UPay powers staff with ‘UPlay with UPay’ competition

UPay, the digital wallet powered by SDB bank recently concluded the ‘UPlay with UPay’ internal staff competition to enhance and strengthen knowledge, and engagement of the bank’s staff with the bank’s innovative digital wallet, UPay. This internal competition celebrated teamwork and innovation while strategically positioning UPay as a flagship digital payment solution product in the bank’s journey towards digital excellence. The competition also emphasized and contributed to the bank’s dedication to creating a culture of continuous learning and development.

The competition was designed to equip employees with comprehensive knowledge of the UPay app, empowering them to educate and serve customers more effectively while showcasing its advanced features.  The initiative further aimed to enhance familiarity and boost the popularity of the app’s user-friendly features such as fund transfers, bill payments, and QR payments while driving app downloads, registrations, and overall engagement, both internally and externally.

The social media engagement episode of the competition was an exciting highlight that brought fun and interactive energy to the competition. It was an opportunity for staff to think innovatively and come up with creative executions. This increased social media engagementand elevated the digital share of voice for UPay extending its reach to both internal and external audiences.

The Chief Digital Officer  of SDB bank, Dinesh Thomas stated “UPay was recently revamped to enable a faster transaction process and facilitate advanced security features to provide a safe and smooth mobile banking experience to its users. UPay is known as “One App for all Banks” where the user has the freedom to bank with any Bank or Financial institute through UPay without a hassle. The ‘UPlay with UPay’ internal campaign was a testament to the dedication and innovation of the team members who are the backbone of UPay app leveraging the energy and creativity that set new benchmarks in the digital banking landscape.” 

The overwhelming participation of over 100 teams from across the branch network & the departments took part in this competition that was structured as a points-based programme, with activities designed to meet specific objectives. Teams earned points upon the completion of each task with bonus points awarded for exceptional performance. 

Three winners were selected based on the highest number of points by an independent panel of judges ensuring transparency by reviewing the framework and providing impartial feedback. The teams of the Administration Department, Trincomalee Branch & Mahabage Branch won the 1st, 2nd and 3rd places in this ultimate challenge respectively.

This campaign sets the standard with a reflection of UPay’s commitment to innovation, employee empowerment, and exceptional customer experiences, and is expected to reach a whole new level in 2025 transforming digital payment landscape.
