ILO Director-General to attend International Conference on Financing for Development

The Director-General of the International Labour Organization (ILO), Guy Ryder, will participate in the Third International Conference on Financing for Development  to be held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia from 13-16 July.

The objective of the four-day conference is to agree on how to support, finance and implement sustainable development for the next 15 years in the context of the post-2015 development agenda. 

On Monday, Guy Ryder will moderate a joint ILO-Sweden side event on “Financing Development through Decent Work ” in the presence of. Stefan Löfven, Prime Minister of Sweden. The interactive panel discussion is aimed at encouraging a global dialogue on how various stakeholders can assist in achieving the development objectives pledged in the Addis Ababa Accord, as well as the type of global partnership needed to make the proposed sustainable development goals a reality.

On Tuesday, Ryder will take part in a round table on “Ensuring policy coherence and an enabling environment at all levels for sustainable development ”.
In addition, the Director-General will participate, together with the ILO Assistant Director-General and Regional Director for Africa, Aeneas C. Chuma, and ILO Directors of the Multilateral cooperation department, Stephen Pursey, and the Partnerships and Development department , Jurgen Schwettmann to plenary sessions and side events on youth  and migration.

The International Conference on Financing for Development will gather leaders and finance ministers from across the world, the UN system, international organizations, civil society and the private sector for high-level discussions on sustainable development with the aim of reaching consensus on the way forward for development financing in the post-2015 era.
