Nestlé recognised for contribution towards export sector in Sri Lanka

Nestlé Lanka PLC, a leading nutrition, health and wellness provider in Sri Lanka, secured three awards at the recently conducted Presidential Export Awards, as recognition for its contribution towards the export sector in Sri Lanka.
The ‘Good Food, Good Life’ company was awarded the ‘Best Exporter of the Coconut and Coconut-Based Product Sector’ for 2010 and 2013 and ‘Best Exporter of the Food and Other Beverages Product Sector’ for 2011, reaffirming its successful performance in exports over the past few years.
The Presidential Export Awards recognised the work of both small and large-scale enterprises towards Sri Lanka’s export sector during the years of 2010 – 2013. The prestigious awards were presented to the winners by President Maithripala Sirisena and the ministers of the Government of Sri Lanka.
“The Presidential Export Awards is the highest form of recognition given to exporters in Sri Lanka for the contribution made towards the local economy. As the only manufacturer of coconut milk powder in the Nestlé world, Nestlé Lanka has been actively involved in exporting its products to over 60 countries across the world over the past three decades. We are proud to receive this recognition from the Export Development Board and the Government of Sri Lanka as it is an indication of Nestlé Lanka’s consistent performance year-on-year,” said Nestlé Lanka PLC Managing Director Shivani Hegde.
Nestlé Lanka manufactures its products at its manufacturing facility in Pannala, Kurunegala in line with the company’s stringent quality standards. Nestlé is also Sri Lanka’s largest exporter of value-added coconut products and one of the world’s leading exporters of coconut milk powder, procuring over 66 million coconuts from 5,000 local farmers annually.
