During a time where various different perspectives are coming to light, NDB would like to take a moment to thank the Sri Lanka Air Force for going above and beyond their call of duty in this hour of great need.
With the COVID–19 outbreak in the country forcing all citizens to remain indoors and bringing many banking activities to a halt, NDB was able to assist the Bank’s customers to perform their banking transactions in a secure and safe fashion with minimal contact through the NDB Bank on Wheels - a Mobile Banking unit that will bring the Bank to the customer's doorstep.
This feat would not have been possible if not for the Sri Lanka Air Force.
NDB Director/Group CEO Dimantha Seneviratne stated that the Bank is immensely grateful to the Sri Lanka Air Force for lending their support, expertise and manpower to NDB.
"The Sri Lanka Air Force truly went above and beyond what is expected in assisting the Bank to fulfil the needs of the general public. Not only did they provide us with their manpower in building the Mobile ATM on time but they also provided us with their valuable time and energy," he said.
The GCEO further thanked Air Force Commander - Air Marshal Sumangala Dias, Director General Engineering - Air Vice Marshal Andrew Wijesooriya, Base Commander - Air Commodore Sampath Wickramasinghe and Commanding Officer ASW Group Captain S Vitharana for their support in this initiative.
"The idea of having mobile units to disburse cash at a time like this was conceived and communicated only last Wednesday, and I am truly proud that it came to fruition at such a speedy pace. Our NDB IT department, Administration, Branch Network, Digital Financial services, Marketing and all other departments who supported us in this initiative is truly commendable. The fact that the Bank was able to deploy two such units, with the assistance of many, is exemplary and further proof that NDB is committed to the safety, wellbeing and success of its customers," he further added.
The NDB Bank on Wheels will be travelling around Colombo and suburbs for the Bank’s customers and stakeholders to conduct their banking transactions. NDB Bank customers as well as other Bank customers can withdraw cash upto Rs. 100,000 through any ATM card from the Mobile ATM which will also be available.
Among the several mobile Banking Units that have been dispatched is one vehicle solely dedicated to NDB bank customers to carry out all their transactions. The other vehicle will carry the mobile ATM unit that can be used by the Bank’s customers as well as other bank customers to withdraw cash.
Meanwhile, the Bank’s island wide networks of over 141 ATM/CRM machines are also all in operation and customers can carry out banking transactions such as cash deposits, cash withdrawals, balance inquiries and fund transfers easily and conveniently any time of any day.
For all other clientele who wish to bank from the safety of their homes are also given the easy solution of using the NDB NEOS Mobile Banking App which provides nearly all of the same facilities that a customer can receive through physical presence at the Bank.
