Sri Lanka is exploring the possibility of accepting digital currencies payments in the tourism sector by next year, the government said.
Minister of Youth and Sports, Development Coordination and Monitoring/State Minister of Digital Technology and Enterprise Development Namal Rajapaksa shared in a tweet that a meeting was held today with the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) Governor Ajith Nivard Cabraal and other officials to discuss the way forward on the adoption of blockchain and digital currency.
According to the minister, plans are afoot to have in place the relevant guidelines by the 1Q22.
